Historical Terminology

The words used to describe things in- and outside of Minecraft have changed quite a bit as both the game and the community around it have evolved.

This page will serve as both a guide and a reference to terms that were commonly used back in the day, that were later changed to something else.

A lot of these arose, either because a thing didn't have a public name, or because the name was changed later. A popular example is that Crafting tables were once known as Workbenches.

NOTE

This page does not cover cut or unused features, such as gears or the sky dimension. It serves purely as an archive of words or terms that were commonly used in forums of videos, that were later clarified or revised through official means
